Nikhil is a computational biologist with an interest in mobile genetic elements (MGEs). He did his Ph.D. at the University of Waterloo, Canada, during which he characterized the genomes and CRISPR-Cas systems of novel bacteriophages. His work in the Farhat lab is focused on new diagnostic methods for drug-resistant TB, the influence of MGEs on mycobacterial phenotypes, and phage therapy for non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections.
